BP = blood platelets = the platelet count of the blood used to make PRP (in 1000s/microliter (k/μL)).

BV = blood volume = the volume of blood used to make PRP (in ml).

PP = PRP platelets = the platelet count of the PRP produced (in 1000s/microliter (k/μLy)).

PV = PRP volume = the volume of PRP produced (in ml).

Yield = the percentage of blood platelets recovered in the PRP.

In order to calculate the yield of a particular PRP preparation method we need to run the method enough times that we can get a statistically valid set of samples. On this page you can enter the results of up to 20 samples and calculate the mean yield for a method and it’s standard deviation and confidence interval. It assumes that you want a confidence level of 95%.
